An Occupational Therapy's Role to Seating and Positioning
CEU Course Description
Occupational therapists have long been part of the seating and positioning practice area. However, oftentimes, their role can be blurred between that of physical therapists, assistive technology professionals, and other disciplines that stake a claim to helping others find viable seating options. This course helps occupational therapists better understand their distinct role in evaluating, recommending, and training patients in the use of mobility devices. Therapists will also learn basic body mechanics, ergonomics, and aspects of seating and positioning devices along with important clinical considerations associated with each. As a result of this course, you will understand the main goals of an occupational therapist working in seating and positioning as well as how to best encourage function during the process.
